Inventory

Reviewed on · View on GitHub

The inventory is a feature that lets you view all the resources deployed in a Numspot space. It provides a consolidated and unified view of every resource, regardless of its source service (compute, connectivity, Kubernetes, postgresql, objectstorage, registry, secrets).

The inventory makes resources easier to manage and track by providing a centralized list with essential information: identifier, reference, name, type, source, state and parent relationships.

Accessing the inventory

The inventory is accessible through the API with the endpoint GET /inventory/spaces/{spaceId}/resources.

Structure of a resource

Each resource in the inventory includes the following attributes:

  • ID: unique identifier of the resource (for example vm-622ef57d, vpc-12b7fdbc);
  • Reference: NRN (Numspot Resource Name), a unique identifier in the form of a UUID (Universally Unique Identifier);
  • Name: name assigned to the resource when it was created;
  • Type: resource type, for example VM (Virtual Machine), VPC (Virtual Private Cloud), subnet, load balancer;
  • Source: source service of the resource;
  • State: current state of the resource;
  • Parent: parent resource if applicable (hierarchical relationship).

Resource sources and types

Inventory resources are classified by source and by type. For the exhaustive list of available domains and kinds, refer to the catalog documentation.

Relationships between resources

The inventory displays the parent relationships between resources. For example, a node has a cluster as its parent.

This hierarchy lets you understand the structure of your infrastructure and the dependencies between resources.
