Introduction to managed services

Managed services allow companies to benefit from a complete IT infrastructure, managed by a cloud service provider. These services include databases, application runtime environments, development tools, and much more, without the user having to manage the underlying infrastructure.

1. Managed PostgreSQL

PostgreSQL is an open-source relational database management system (RDBMS), known for its robustness and its compliance with SQL standards. As a managed service, it allows users to benefit from a PostgreSQL database without having to manage the installation, the configuration, or the maintenance of the server.

Use cases:

  • Storage and management of structured data.
  • Applications requiring ACID transactions (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability).
  • Environments where data compliance and security are critical.

2. Managed Kubernetes (K8s)

Kubernetes is an open-source platform for automating the deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications. As a managed service, Kubernetes allows companies to deploy and manage containerized applications without having to configure or maintain the Kubernetes cluster.

Use cases:

  • Deployment and management of containerized applications.
  • Environments requiring high availability and scalability.
  • Microservices orchestration.

3. Managed Container Registry

Container Registry is a solution managed by Numspot to store, manage and secure software artifacts, in particular:

  • container images (Docker, OCI),
  • Helm charts,
  • various artifacts (npm, packages, configuration files, etc.).

4. Managed Mistral AI Platform

The Mistral AI Platform is a generative artificial intelligence platform (Mistral language models) hosted in a sovereign cloud environment. As a managed service, it allows you to use AI models without managing the GPU infrastructure or the deployment of the models.

Unlike the other managed services, the Mistral AI Platform cannot be enabled on a self-service basis: it is made available on request through our sales department. See Mistral AI Platform - Concepts.

Interaction between managed services

Managed services can communicate with each other without any additional action on your part.

To make one managed service communicate with another, you must use the "host" of each service. For example, a Kubernetes cluster can connect to a PostgreSQL database using the "host" of the PostgreSQL cluster.
